Emma's Funnies!

I have decided it is time to start writing down Emma's funny sayings now that she is talking so much. I am going to start a journal of just Emma's funnies but there are some that have happened recently that are worth sharing.  She literally talks all the time now and if she is not talking then she is singing around the house... I have even caught her making up her own songs.  We can only hope that her musical talent develops into a talent from her Daddy and not her Mommy!!!

So funny story #1:
     When we ask Emma to do something and she seems to be struggling with her own will and desire we will often say to her, "Emma, make a good choice to listen and obey Mommy and Daddy."  Sometimes she gets so proud of herself for obeying without being reminded that she will even say "Jesus tell Emma to obey Mommy and Daddy!"
     Well one night she was delaying bedtime by doing everything possible.  Finally, after I had tried multiple times to get her to go get in her bed while I fed Abby, Trey overheard the struggle and stepped in.  He said, "Emma listen and obey Mommy and go get in  your bed."
     She began walking slowing to her room and turned around and said, "Daddy you come to and read Emma books?"
     Trey said that he would come in just a minute and she looked at him very seriously and said, "Daddy, you listen and obey Emma."
     Well we both looked at each other and I must admit our parent failure at this moment was that we laughed.  Emma laughed too and ran off to bed.  When Trey went to read to her he talked to her about even though it was silly it was inappropriate.  She got a little sad because she thought she was so funny and had no idea that her quirkiness would get her in trouble.  But, I truly don't think she meant to be disrespectful... she is just trying to relate a lot of things together and thought since she obeys us then why shouldn't we obey her.

    I take Emma to the library every other week.  Last time when we were leaving, we saw some boys walking across the parking lot and Emma said "Mommy, I no like boys."  I asked her why not?  (she has been on this kick lately that she can only like one thing... for example, she told me she didn't like horses and when I asked her why she said "because I like puppy dogs")
    This time Emma didn't answer but just sat there thinking.  I then told her that Colton (one of her friends) is a boy. Still no response.  I continued with "Daddy is a boy."  About 10 seconds later Emma said "Mommy I think I love boys!"
    Too cute!

      Emma was playing with Trey's boots and trying to walk in them.  She said "Daddy these boots stinky!"  Trey laughed and then Emma asked "Daddy, did you toot in these boots?"
      I couldn't quit laughing at this one!

Okay so there are some of our funny conversations of the last month.  She just started talking continuously about 5 weeks ago and her sentences and verbal thought processes are getting much more advanced... makes every moment so much fun!

Photo Overload

Okay so if you don't like pictures then this is definitely not a post for you!  Since Abby has been born, every week I have said "I will post next week."  Well you can see where that has gotten me... 5 1/2 months later.  After about 3 months I decided I had waited too long but hopefully you will enjoy seeing a little of what we have been up to lately and forgive me for the LONG delay!  So not much story for you just a photo overload...

About 3 days home from the hospital Emma decided that Abby was like all her other baby dolls and should be used to play dress-up... thankfully Abby has been the most laid-back baby since day 1

13 days after Abby was born we celebrated our 4th anniversary... I am the luckiest girl in the world to get to spend every  day with my best friend.  Happier today than I was even when I walked down the aisle to take his name!

Since Abby was born Emma really became the big girl in the family!  She now has a big girl room complete with a big girl bed and she also is completely potty trained!

Our Last Weekend as 3!

So this weekend was our last weekend as a family of 3!  I can not even believe it!  Abby will be here Friday (if not earlier) and I can't wait to meet this little bundle of joy we have been anticipating for 10 months.  However, I am also an emotional roller coaster.  I cried when I put Emmy to bed tonight thinking that this is the last family weekend we will have as 3.  I started feeling these emotions earlier this weekend but my sister-in-law assured me that this was normal and that I will be able to love Abby just as much.  Soon 4 will become my normal and I know that it will be even sweeter than 3!  After all, I am so glad that Emma will have a little sister to grow up with, be best friends, and of course fight with.  I am so thankful that Emma will have a friend every day and on family vacations they will get to make memories and experience life together.  This is my prayer for the future... a family of 4 with two precious little girls that love and encourage each other as we live our lives to honor and glorify the Lord. 

For this last weekend of 3 we spent some amazing family time together.  We picked up Emma from Gigi and Poppy on Friday and had a pizza picnic in the living room while we watched The Incredibles.  On Saturday, we spent the morning outside doing a little yard work and washing the cars.  Emma hates to be sprayed  by the water hose but she loved spraying Daddy and also splashing him with the soapy sponge.  Saturday afternoon we took Emma swimming to get her used to the water since she has forgotten swimming from last summer.  She is still very cautious but actually got to the point of going down the slide all by herself and Daddy catching her.  Saturday afternoon we went to an estate sale and the ladies working it fell in love with Emma... so much that she walked out with a ballerina stool, apron, cookie cutter, wooden spoon, and teddy bear all for free!  They insisted on it saying that they were about to close.  When we got in the car we asked Emma what she wanted to name her bear and she replied with "Butt"... where does my quirky little girl come up with some of this stuff!  That evening we went to campus to walk around.  It was Emma's first campus visit of her future school... class of 2033!  Today was just a relaxing day of church and then playing at home... all in all one of the best family weekends we have had in a long time!!!

Poppy and Gigi's House

My parents so graciously offered to have Emma come stay at their house for a few days this past week to give me a chance to rest and also get a couple things done.  I can not even explain how much of a blessing this was!  Trey has been so busy at work that it has been Mommy and Emma time all day every day so the opportunity to sleep late and take naps was wonderful.  I rested, got all the last minute things bought, and got a pedicure. 

It seems while I was enjoying my break Emma also had a great time!!!! Below are some pictures of her fun, silly time at Poppy and Gigi's house.  She had such a good time that she cried when we went to pick her up.  But, I would much rather her cry that she has to come home rather than crying that she has to go to their house.  They obviously love on her so much while she is there!  My dad even got some alone babysitting time which is a first... he actually had to wake her up in the morning, dress her, feed her breakfast, run errands with her, and then take her to Gigi.  I am with Trey on this saying that we wish we could have had a camera following him.  He did great though and apparently he and car seats do not get along!  He laughed so hard trying to get Emma in the car seat that she started laughing at him.  Then when we got back and tried to put her in the car seat we asked her if Poppy laughed when he did it and she responded with "Poor Poppy!"
